Mountain View Voices for Peace and Justice
Mountain View Voices for Peace and Justice, originally known as Mountain View Voices for Peace, has been mobilizing people locally in times of crisis since 1990. Today our e-mail list circulates information, from a diverse group of volunteers, about actions and activities protesting the outrages of the Trump-Vance administration. To join our list or just ask for information, simply send a message to MVVPJ@mvvpj.org. People affiliated with other groups are welcome to join our list. We’re all in this together!
Visibility protest: ""Communities Not Cages. Stop ICE Warehouse Detention" 11:00 am-1:00 pm Saturday, April 25
A coalition of Mountain View-based activists is organizing a Visibility Protest on Saturday, April 25 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Castro Street and El Camino Real (Gateway Plaza). This is part of the National Day of Action: "Communities Not Cages. Stop ICE Warehouse Detention.” The Department of Homeland Security is moving to lock up thousands of people in massive detention warehouses — disappearing them from their families, their lawyers, and their communities. These concentration “camps” are brutal and defy our constitutional rights. Communities throughout the U.S. are blocking these proposed (and in some cases, already operating) detention centers, and we’ll be standing up in solidarity. Join us!

Bring signs and your chanting voice.
Mountain View Voices for Peace and Justice joins other activist groups, labor unions, and people taking action for the first time, bringing people into the streets to challenge Trump, Vance, and their allies.
The key to building a movement is to engage in education to motivate people to take action AND to visibly mobilize people so that our neighbors, friends, and co-workers will notice our educational activities. It’s a virtuous circle.
Education and action have other benefits: They show that we are not alone, and they delay or prevent some of the worst outrages of the new administration.
